About

Hi, this is the private web page of Kai Graf. I am a retired professor of the University of Applied Sciences Kiel, specialized in ship hydrodynamics, computational fluid dynamics and sailing yacht aero- and hydrodynamics. I am founder of the “Yacht Research Unit Kiel”, a university spin-off involved in professional sail sport campaigns like the America’s Cup, (Volvo) Ocean Race, IMOCA and Olympic campaigns and similar. From my activities as performance analyst a couple of methods, programs, codes and datasets emerged that I would like to share with interested parties, in particular engineers and scientists interested in sailing yacht velocity prediction programs (VPPs). Some of the freely available modules are just building blocks of a VPP, for example methods to calculate aerodynamic or hydrodynamic flow forces. But there are also some readily available VPPs for dinghies and big boats.

This web page is strictly non-commercial. The digital data offered here will be freely available in the hope that proper use is made of it.
